Executive summary
Our Nova Southeastern University team won 1st Place at the Undergraduate Level of the 2026 SHRM Florida Student Case Competition. The case itself is confidential, so this page covers how we approached it, not the company.
My role
Team captain. Santiago Garcia and I split the work: the research, the CARE framework, the deck and the presentation to the judges.
The problem
A company in crisis, where the crisis exposed weak foundations in how it managed its people. Our thesis to the judges: The crisis was the stress test. The foundation was the real issue.
What we did
- Diagnosed root causes instead of only the crisis itself.
- Built CARE, a framework to rebuild the company's people practices: Compliance, Assurance, Response and Endurance.
- Presented and defended the recommendation in front of the judges.

Lessons
Look past the crisis to the system that allowed it. Organizing our answer around four clear pillars gave the judges one structure to follow, and it made every recommendation easy to trace back to a cause.
